This tour takes you from Westport to Achill along the east and north shores of clew Bay, a route with many attractions and pleasant visual experiences. Achill, the largest island off the coast of Ireland and connected to the Mayo mainland by a bridge, is a place of sheer beauty, with mountains, lakes, valleys, magnificent seacliffs, wild moors and spectacular scenery.
The island is 24 km long and 19 km in width, with an area of 145 sq.km. Many well-known artists, writers and historical figures lived in Achill, like Paul Henry, Desmond Turner, John Healy and Captain Boycott ( of Land League fame).
